Choose representative items and follow receiving, storage, a pick or job issue, and a return. Have the people doing the work check both the physical movement and the resulting records.
Inventory quantities, valuation and accounting are related but different controls. Include your finance owner when defining opening balances, consumption, reconciliation and changeover. Do not assume a scan alone establishes a cost or approval.

Those locations and movements can be part of the system design. First define who records an issue, return or transfer and what the job or finance record needs to show.
Do we need new scanners and label printers?
Existing devices may be useful. Check the actual application, barcode format, printing requirements and network before selecting equipment.
